Cleaning Instructions for spencer

With so much information circulating about the Coronavirus, or COVID-19, we realize that our spencer® patients may be considering additional steps you might take to keep yourself and your family healthy and safe.

The Spencer Health Solutions team joins with your pharmacist or other health providers to share these tips for keeping the spencer® device sanitary.

Cleaning your spencer device:

Use a 70% isopropyl alcohol wipe or a Clorox® Disinfecting Wipe to gently wipe the hard, nonporous surfaces of the spencer device.

This includes the front display screen, the top with the lid closed, the sides and the back of the spencer device.

Wring excess liquid from the wipe before using on spencer.

Let spencer air dry.

A few cautionary “don’ts”:

Don’t use bleach.

Avoid getting moisture in any opening – including the mouth of the spencer device – where you receive your packaged medications.

Don’t use aerosol sprays, bleaches, or abrasives; and don’t spray cleaners or disinfectants directly onto the spencer device.

Never clean or wipe the spencer refill package or the individual medication packs. This could remove or damage the identifying barcodes.

How often you wipe down spencer depends on the frequency of visitors, including home health aides or other caregivers.
